Welcome to the Small Press Network, the peak Australian organisation for small and independent publishers.

Strategic direction

SPN is committed to working to promote independent publishing in Australia through collaborative initiatives that target the practical difficulties faced by our members, particularly regarding sales & distribution, marketing & publicity, and networking & communication within the publishing and book industries .

Broadly speaking our goals are:

  • to network and support the efforts of Australian small and independent publishers;

  • to improve the sector’s engagement with the public and general book trade (with a specific focus on collaborative marketing, publicity, and distribution);

  • to identify the issues which affect the sector and to develop strategies to address these;

  • to initiate and facilitate programs which contribute to the development of the sector;

  • to actively represent members' interests to government and other organisations.

SPN’s operations are overseen by a board of directors which is elected at the AGM. The board consists of:

Zoe Dattner (President)
Amy Espeseth (Deputy President)
Bec Cole (Treasurer)
