SPN is committed to working to promote independent publishing in Australia through collaborative initiatives that target the practical difficulties faced by our members, particularly regarding sales & distribution, marketing & publicity, and networking & communication within the publishing and book industries .
Broadly speaking our goals are:
to network and support the efforts of Australian small and independent publishers;
to improve the sector’s engagement with the public and general book trade (with a specific focus on collaborative marketing, publicity, and distribution);
to identify the issues which affect the sector and to develop strategies to address these;
to initiate and facilitate programs which contribute to the development of the sector;
to actively represent members' interests to government and other organisations.
SPN’s operations are overseen by a board of directors which is elected at the AGM. The board consists of:
