As part of the Small Press Network’s suite of member services in 2013 we are running a roadshow of 13 events across Australia – the first one is about to kick off!

FUNDRAISER: The Red Room Company [23.08.2012]

The Red Room Company commissions more new Australian poetry than any other organisation. Our goal is to create paid publishing opportunities for poets and to publicise their work widely. And we need your help.

Ealier this year, we released The Disappearing, a new app that matches poems to places in and around Sydney. Over 120 contemporary Australian poets have appeared as part of the digital poetry project. Readers can download The Disappearing free on their iPhone, iPad and Android device, and explore a city dotted with poems. It’s also being used to inspire primary and secondary school students as part of our creative literacy program, Papercuts.

But Sydney is only part of the story. With your help, The Red Room Company will publish 60 new works about people, places and things all around Australia, creating a poetic map of the entire country.

Through this fundraising campaign, we hope to pay 60 poets for new works in a national call for submissions.

As a not-for-profit, The Red Room Company relies on the help of individual supporters to run our programs, which include a school education program, workshops for inmates at correctional facilities, and projects like The Disappearing.

Your help will make an incredible difference to this project, which supports emerging and established writers all over the country. Plus, there’s a range a of unique rewards especially for supporters!

Please help us raise $5000 by making a donation, large or small, via Pozible to take The Disappearing Australia-wide. Click here to donate now…
