OPENING: The Centre for Modern Australian Writing [06.02.2012]

23 rd March 2012 at 12.30pm

The Ballarat Mechanics’ Institute is one of the oldest continuous subscription libraries in Australia and has been catering to the reading needs of the people of Ballarat since 1859. To ensure that we continue to present our members with the best in Australian writing we are establishing the Centre for Modern Australian Writing and inviting writers and publishers to showcase their new books to our friendly audiences in our beautifully restored library.

The first writer to be showcased will be Paddy O'Reilly whose new book The Fine Colour of Rust will be published by Harper Collins in March. She will be introduced by Dominic Brine, Manager of ABC Radio Ballarat, who will also open the Centre for Modern Australian Writing.

Inquiries about the Centre for Modern Australian Writing cam be made to Jill Blee, President of the Ballarat Mechanics' Institute by emailing (president@ballaratmi.com.au) or by telephoning 0411 046 558.
