"We're Out of Cognac" [11.07.2012]

10-richer-010312-de In a statement responding to the Government’s responses to the BISG recommendations, SPUNC GM Zoe Dattner said: “I’m a little disappointed that our request for more Chesterfield leather lounge suites for small publishers was knocked back. We’ve also run out of cognac.”

On a more serious note, Dattner went on to say that “there is very little in either the recommendations or the government’s response that is materially or structurally useful to independent publishers. That is, unless most people choose to ignore it and just get on with the business of publishing books, supporting their authors, and giving readers the best possible books via the most accessible channels at the most reasonable price. Fortunately, most small and independent publishers tend to know this already.”
