The Lifted Brow is a freeform bi-monthly arts, culture, and fiction magazine, from Australia and the world. Founded in Brisbane in 2007 by Ronnie Scott, it’s now edited and published by Sam Cooney. The Brow is designed by Elwyn Murray, Johannes Jakob reads and edits the fiction section, and Ellena Savage commissions and edits Middlebrow, our arts liftout.
Since the Brow’s inception it has been home to everyone from Christos Tsiolkas to Helen Garner, David Foster Wallace to Neil Gaiman, as well as . At our live shows, we’ve hosted performances by Spiral Stairs, Bachelorette, Angie Hart, and Washington. Our regular contributors include Alice Pung, Eddie Campbell, Anna Krien, Renee French, Benjamin Law, and Vijay Khurana.
