Welcome to SPUNC, home of Australia's small press
and independent publishing community.

Strategic direction

SPUNC is committed to working to promote independent publishing in Australia through collaborative initiatives that target the practical difficulties faced by our members, particularly regarding sales & distribution, marketing & publicity, and networking & communication within the publishing and book industries .

Broadly speaking our goals are:

  • to network and support the efforts of Australian small and independent publishers;

  • to improve the sector’s engagement with the public and general book trade (with a specific focus on collaborative marketing, publicity, and distribution);

  • to identify the issues which affect the sector and to develop strategies to address these;

  • to initiate and facilitate programs which contribute to the development of the sector;

  • to actively represent members' interests to government and other organisations.

SPUNC’s operations are overseen by a board of directors which was elected at the AGM in August 2009. The board consists of:

The Executive

Emmett Stinson (President)
Erica Sontheimer (Deputy President)
Kent E. MacCarter (Treasurer)
